We’re excited to share our current volunteer opportunities! All roles are unpaid but offer a great way to build experience for future jobs.

Working hand in hand with the station’s Music Director, the station’s group of music curators will help filter through new music submissions and make recommendations to the MD about which tracks to incorporate into the station’s Music Library. Will also involve screening tracks for FCC compliance and completing music clearance forms.

Responsible for planning, organizing, managing and coordinating various types of events.

MARKETING TEAM

The Marketing Coordinator works with the various members of the Marketing Team to execute a variety of campaigns and promotions across KLBP’s digital properties including, but not limited to web, email newsletters, and social media channels. Under the direction of the General Manager, and with the cooperation of the Long Beach Public Media Board of Directors, the Marketing Team Manager ensures that public facing communications are consistent across all channels and that they adequately reflect KLBP’s missions and goals.

Want to help us craft the look and identity of our station? The graphic designer will help develop marketing collateral for print and digital. This position will be vital to bringing visual consistency and cohesion to an eclectic mix of programming. Requires knowledge of various print and digital specs and Adobe Creative Suite.

Help recruit and support our volunteer team. Ideal for someone organized, people-focused, and comfortable with Microsoft Word and Google Suite.

Support our membership program, communicate with members, and help the Board develop member perks.

Contribute 1–2 hours weekly to help maintain our online music library. Training provided—work with our Programming Team from home.
EVENTS TEAM

Do you have skills managing teams, administrating projects and love being organized? The Events Team Manager has ultimate oversight of all our Events and manages the Event Captains who lead all our events. Under the direction of the General Manager, and with the cooperation of the LBPM Board of Directors, The Events Team Manager contributes to and oversees event planning for all KLBP functions.

Are you someone who is good at throwing parties? Under the direction of the Event Committee Chair, our Event Captains helm an event and manage it from conception to execution. In cooperation with the Underwriting and Development, they assist in the addition and management of a fund-raising element to every event.

KLBP needs ambassadors to get the word out all over the San Pedro and Long Beach communities. If you can help out at a table, answer questions and manage two or three other volunteers, the Street Team Captain is for you. If your time is limited, you can make a commitment to help out just once-a-month. A complete Street Team training will be provided.

If you are someone who prefers direction, “Just tell me where to go and what to do” – a street team ambassadorship is for you. Even if your time is limited, you can make a commitment to help out just once-a-month. A complete Street Team training will be provided.
DIRECTOR POSITIONS
The Board of Directors is seeking volunteers with experience in nonprofit fundraising, journalism, or news media. These roles are ideal for retired professionals who wish to stay engaged and share their expertise while mentoring the next generation of broadcasters.
