Support the launch of KLBP, Long Beach Public Radio

In a city of half a million, you’ll be surprised to find that until now there had been no radio station dedicated to local issues.

Armed with an FCC permit to build a low-power radio station, we set out to change that, and as of December 19 we are on the air in Long Beach, Wilmington, and San Pedro!

99.1 KLBP is the city’s first radio source to provide a platform for local news, in-depth storytelling, music, and civic discourse.

Your contribution today will help offset critical expenses related to successfully meeting KLBP’s on-air deadline set by the FCC, as well as preparing a solid financial foundation for years of sustained community broadcasting.

Second Cause

Education is at the core of our mission. To create an opportunity for people of all backgrounds, we’ve implemented public workshops that guide beginner’s through the planning process, recording and editing.

First Cause

Our FCC license’s mandated deadline to get KLBP on air by December 2018 was achieved! 2018’s fundraising initiatives were in support of launch efforts at 99.1 FM. 2019’s efforts will fortify the start-up projects & our new broadcast studio.

Third Cause

Through powerful discourse and impactful stories, we’ll create a platform that keeps our community engaged and informed.

KLBP is a community service of Long Beach Public Media
