Open Positions

Programming Team

KLBP has a commitment to the Long Beach and our neighboring Harbor communities to provide news, information and address issues of local concern with its public affairs programming. The News & Public Affairs Direction manages the execution of that commitment, recruits non-profit organizations and administrates those relationships and manages a team of volunteers to provide news. Previous journalism experience is required for this position.

Another commitment that KLBP has to the local community is to represent musicians and artists that receive little attention in the mainstream media marketplace.  The Music Director is the point person for that commitment. They organize unsolicited submissions, manage a network of musicians and artists and provide them access to the airwaves and stream through KLBP’s many shows that include musical content. They manage the relationship with music companies and other musical content providers.

Are you a creative, imaginative experienced audio engineer with pride in their work? KLBP is looking for that special producer to manage all the creative elements of audio that surround the programming on air. In cooperation with the Marketing team, the Production and Imaging assists in the planning and execution of the Station Identity. They will also work with the team of show producers to assist them in promoting their own programs via station promos, while ensuring that all promotional and image programming maintain KLBP standards.

Marketing Team

Implementing the goals of the LBPM Board of Directors, the Director of Underwriting & Development oversees the administration of sponsorships, underwriting and donations to the station, assists in identifying potential underwriters and represents the station in those relationships. Prior Sales or Marketing Experience is preferred.

The Marketing Team Manager works with the various members of the Marketing Team to execute a variety of campaigns and promotions across KLBP’s digital properties including, but not limited to web, email newsletters, and social media channels. Under the direction of the General Manager, and with the cooperation of the Long Beach Public Media Board of Directors, the Marketing Team Manager ensures that public facing communications are consistent across all channels and that they adequately reflect KLBP’s missions and goals.

Are you an idea person with a track record of success when it comes to fundraising? The Fundraising manager assists in long-range planning for KLBP fundraising campaigns, interfaces with the Events Manager for event-oriented fundraising and the Marketing Manager for digital

Want to help us craft the look and identity of our station? The graphic designer will help develop marketing collateral for print and digital. This position will be vital to bringing visual consistency and cohesion to an eclectic mix of programming. Requires knowledge of various print and digital specs and Adobe Creative Suite.

Events Team

Do you have skills managing teams, administrating projects and love being organized? The Events Team Manager has ultimate oversight of all our Events and manages the Event Captains who lead  all our events. Under the direction of the General Manager, and with the cooperation of the LBPM Board of Directors, The Events Team Manager contributes to and oversees event planning for all KLBP functions.

Are you someone who is good at throwing parties?  Under the direction of the Event Committee Chair, our Event Captains helm an event and manage it from conception to execution.  In cooperation with the Underwriting and Development, they assist in the addition and management of a fund-raising element to every event.

KLBP needs ambassadors to get the word out all over the San Pedro and Long Beach communities. If you can help out at a table, answer questions and manage two or three other volunteers, the Street Team Captain is for you. If your time is limited, you can make a commitment to help out just once-a-month. A complete Street Team training will be provided.

If you are someone who prefers direction, “Just tell me where to go and what to do” – a street team ambassadorship is for you.  Even if your time is limited, you can make a commitment to help out just once-a-month. A complete Street Team training will be provided.
